However that just enriches us further and allows us to learn from one another. We love the myths and legends, know the best stops and visits, and as a result can help illuminate the culture. And we do share a passion and enthusiasm to bring all this alive for our guests.

Speyside Distillery Tour with Hugh We spent a day with Hugh Allison on a private Speyside Distillery Tour from Inverness. What a fantastic day! Hugh worked with me to determine the distilleries to visit, provided a wonderfull card to us celebrating birthdays and our anniversary, shared a lovely lunch with us, and provided detailed Outlander information not expected. All in all we had a fantastic quiet day out with this company and its exceptional guide.

Dave is a natural storyteller — he wove history, folklore, and personal anecdotes into every stop, so nothing felt like a recited fact sheet. Whether it was clan battles, local legends, or quieter corners of Highland history, he always had a great story ready. His knowledge of the area was genuinely impressive, going well beyond what you'd find in a guidebook, and he was happy to dig into anything we were curious about. The whole day felt less like a scripted tour and more like spending time with a knowledgeable friend who knew every hidden gem in the Highlands. We'd highly recommend Dave and Inverness Tours for anyone wanting a private tour that's informative, personal, and genuinely fun.

He was fun, witty, responsive to all our requests , accommodating and highly knowledgeable of historical facts and of all local happenings. Simply amazing! Not only did she have a well-planned initial itinerary, but she also took the time to listen to our preferences and made adjustments accordingly. One particular highlight was when Jenni surprised us with a massive bag of carrots to feed the adorable highland cows. Mike Dane13 May 2024Our guide made it great experience We took a 2-day tour of the Highlands in May 2024. Our guide was Graeme MacDonald. We couldn't have been matched with a better person to accompany us for 2 days. There was only 2 of us, my wife and I, and she was interested in areas and places associated with the book series, Outlander. Graeme came with a good understanding of Outlander and more importantly, he could speak in depth about the history of the time, so my wife not only got her share of Outlander specific information, she also left with a great understanding of the history and context of the period it was set in. Spending the 2 days with Graeme was like spending 2 days with a friend, he was so accommodating and considerate of our comfort and satisfaction along the way. We were assigned Graeme as our guide, but if we had it to do again, or were advising friends or family, we'd recommend him to be truly happy with the money being spent.Posted on Trustindex

Debbie Tipton6 September 2024Lifetime wish fulfilled. Our tour was amazing. I wanted to learn more about the clan of my family and this was the highlight of my trip to Scotland. Our guide, Christina, was so informative and knowledgeable. She had researched my request. There were just the 4 of us, me and my husband and my son and his spouse. Christina took us where we could learn about our ancestors and was very versed on the Scottish history. My son was blown away. He thanked me for arranging the tour. Michael Weiss8 June 2023GREAT Tours and Amazing Guides Took 2 tours - a full day tour to Isle of Skye with Christina Stewart and a city to city tour with Dave Fyfe from Inverness to Oban with stops at Urquhart Castle & Glencoe. Amazing, extremely knowledgeable, engaging & entertaining come to top of mind to describe the experiences. I most highly recommend these guides. The tour operator was easy to deal with and the guides made these experiences wonderfully memorable experiences.

Amazing Private Clan MacKenzie Tour Thanks to the comprehensive website and helpful staff, I booked a tour for myself and my husband of the MacKenzie clan lands online. We spent the day in the delightful care of guide and storyteller, Sandy Dear. It is impossible to imagine a better experience. In advance of our trip Sandy found by coincidence that Castle Leod was to be open to the public on our scheduled tour date. We were quite excited to be offered that opportunity when he contacted us to see if we would like to work that extra stop into our itinerary. Sandy picked us up at our Airbnb precisely on time and chauffeured us along Loch Ness, to Eilean Donan Castle, the Gairloch Museum, Loch Maree and Castle Leod, all the while taking care to squeeze in rest stops and photo ops along the way. Somehow, without rushing us, we were still allowed the opportunity to see so much more than we had expected. Sandy was informed and thorough, not only with stories mapped to the tour, but also in answers to our every question. It was obvious, along the way, that Sandy was also exploring and taking notes for future tours, too. The photos and memories we brought back from this day far exceeded any day we could have planned for ourselves. We give the tour our highest recommendation!!!

Bill Rowan24 August 2026Great trip in Scotland Irene was terrific. Spent 4 days with her and enjoyed every minute. She made the trip even more fun, more educational and more interesting. Always on time and a font of Scottish lore. Someone in our group of 4 needed to see a doctor on the last day. She went out of her way to find one. Then dropped others off at hotel and went back with the patient until he was completed. Then drove patients back to hotel even though her time was officially up hours before. We had two days with Irene and we easily could have enjoyed her company during our entire stay in Scotland. Highly recommend! And we were relieved we did not rent a car and drive ourselves. We have a friend in Scotland and look forward to seeing her on our return trip!

It was our first visit to Scotland and, based on past travels, we knew a private guide & driver would let us enjoy the trip more. Laura, one of the owners, was a big help with planning; she took our interests into account and suggested a reasonable itinerary built around our priorities. From the moment Ali picked us up in Edinburgh, we knew we were in good hands. She was friendly, punctual, knowledgeable, and funny. In a pleasant surprise, she turned out to be as into birding as my husband—a few hours in, she spotted a sea eagle along the A9 (quite rare for the area) and taught us the local tradition of calling out "Barn door!" when you see one, for the wingspan. We visited so many wonderful places—Inverness, Cairngorms National Park, Gordon Castle for the Highland Games, Clava Cairns, Culloden, Loch Ness, Boleskine House, and the Isle of Skye. One of our favorite experiences was an off-the-beaten-path suggestion from Laura: a living-history presentation of traditional plaid and Highland weapons by Dave & Suzi in Inverness. Ali made the most of our time in the Highlands. She navigated the single-track roads with ease, provided wonderful commentary along the way, and always knew how to find great stops away from the crowds. We're already planning a return trip to see the areas we missed, and we will absolutely book Ali and Inverness Tours again!Posted on Trustindex
