FAQ

We pick up from the Airport, or the Bus or Train Station. If you are on a cruise ship then we pick up just outside the Harbour Gates. We pick up from any B&B or Hotel within 16 miles of Inverness free of charge. Between 16 & 30 miles from Inverness we charge £45 extra for your party. Outside that please email to discuss other options.

Although we are Inverness Tours, we collect and deliver anywhere in Scotland. This is a custom or bespoke tour- see city-to-city tours option on our custom page.

Because Inverness Tours are exclusive we run any tour on any day for your private party. Just check the website to ensure that we have availability on the day(s) you need.

We will always be wearing our name badge, and we will be looking for you. If the pick-up is in a busier location (eg an airport, train station or cruise ship) we will additionally have an A4 sheet identifying Inverness Tours, and carrying your name in large print.

Inverness Tours are exclusive, so the pricing is never per passenger (unless for solo travellers). So a £560 tour is that price no matter how many passengers there are.

Driver/Guide licencing in Scotland will only allow us to take one payment per tour, so if people in a party wish to split the cost then they arrange that amongst themselves and make one tour payment to us.

Payments are taken through our secure online booking system which accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

You can reserve your date with a 25% deposit. We would then seek the balance 60 days before the date of your tour.  If you wish to do this we will have to send you an invite separately.  Contact the office to proceed.

Our guide lodgings fee is £150 per night away from home. This supplement is payable directly to the guide when the tour takes place.

No. Each party has their own wish list of things to see and do. Also, including admissions locks you in to a certain itinerary for the day, but paying as you go leaves you freer to make “on the move” variations to the itinerary as suits you. Also, as party size can vary widely, it is impossible for us to know what the admissions element may be. We will discuss places to visit during the tour and you make your own selection.

No. Ferry fares vary dependent upon your party size so we cannot include them in a single set price. We do, however, give you a reasonable indication of the particular ferry crossing cost in the FAQ tab on each of the specific tour pages where ferries are a part of the tour.

Most places will accept Visa or MasterCard and some will accept American Express. It is always prudent, though, to bring a little cash with you for unexpected eventualities. You will need GBP, not Euros or Dollars.

Travel industry regulations in the UK preclude us from “booking” your accommodation, but we are always more than happy to help and advise. We have provided some accommodation information with some B&B and Hotel ideas, for some of the places we visit most frequently. Read More

We are happy to change your tour date free of charge if we still have a guide available on the alternative date. If you need to cancel your tour then see our full terms and conditions here. If you cannot get to the arranged meeting point or there is a last minute problem please call us to see if we can assist or rearrange your itinerary.

Not normally. Our tours are exclusive – which means you are buying the driver/guide and vehicle for the duration of the tour. In times of normal operation, however, you can check our Share-a-Tour plan to see if anyone has offered spare seats on their tour. Read More          HOWEVER – UNTIL THE CURRENT COVID-19 SITUATION HAS PASSED WE HAVE SUSPENDED THE SHARE-A-TOUR PLAN AS AN OPTION.

Yes. We can work with you to either amend the itinerary of one of the listed tours, or ask us to build something entirely unique to you. You can also choose your guide if they are available on the day(s) you require. You can check out all the guides here and you can check calendar availability here.

Yes, if circumstances (like roadworks, weather or new information) cause you to want to alter the itinerary then this can be done. But be aware that some experiences such as whisky distillery tours or certain ferry routes will have been booked and paid for, by you, in advance.

Yes, on our exclusive tours. We can also provide baby and child seats – but to comply with regulations we need to know child height and weight.

We usually carry seven passengers. Seats are normally 19 inches (48cm) wide. If that would cause constraint to any particular party then email us if in doubt. If your party is larger than seven then we put you in touch with coach companies, and Hop-On board your coach as your guide. Do email us as early as you can, to give time to source your vehicle.

You must be able to get into the vehicle without our guide’s assistance owing to insurance constraints. The step height is 10 inches or 25 centimetres Fold down wheelchairs may restrict passenger numbers on multi-day tours, so please advise if you have a wheelchair. Most of our tours are easy grade. Short walks, level ground. Bear in mind that some castles & boat trips may be difficult to access. Please email us if you believe there could be a problem and we will do our best to resolve it.

We are happy for you to enjoy bottled water and hard candies while we travel, but other food and drink are viewed as hazardous due to the nature of Highland roads.

You are responsible for paying for your own food & drink during a tour. Lunch could be in a café, pub, restaurant or even a picnic at a beauty spot. Your guide can discuss and advise on options when you meet them.

Tipping is not mandatory in Scotland and we don’t tip poor or merely adequate service. However, if you enjoyed your tour or if it exceeded your expectations then tips are very welcome. The guides appreciate receiving tips as it is a tangible expression of a tour very well done!
