Scott Guthrie

Scott was brought up and still lives in East Kilbride just south of Glasgow. As a child, his parents introduced him to the outdoors with camping and road trips all over Scotland. This continued into his adult life along with other activities such as hillwalking and skiing.

His love of Scotland and love of Scottish history grew when he joined a living history re-enactment society called the White Cockade over 26 years ago. The White Cockade is a society of skilled interpreters who educate and entertain in specific regard to the Jacobite era.

Since then Scott has worked all over Scotland promoting and teaching Scottish history to the public alongside the organisations of the National Trust for Scotland and Historic Scotland at sites such as Stirling and Edinburgh Castles, Bannockburn, Culloden Battlefield, Glenfinnan, Urquhart Castle, Glen Coe and Killiecrankie as well as others. This experience over the years has also led to working with some BBC documentaries and other film work and he has also worked with Ian Deveney’s company, Battlescar.

  Scott Guthrie - Best Tour Guide Scott was the best ever tour guide!!! He was fun, witty, responsive to all our requests , accommodating and highly knowledgeable of historical facts and of all local happenings. Simply amazing!  We have travelled all over the world, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia, Russia, Scandinavia, South America, South Pacific, Antarctica and have never had a guide so versed, knowledgeable in his area and even world affairs nor so fun, humorous and accommodating.   Highlands Tour that exceeded expectations. Our guide Scott was absolutely fabulous.  His explanations of history were exceptional and he always found a way to tell the story with the facts blended with humor.  He hit all the highlights and was very flexible as we had a two day tour of the Highlands.  I highly recommend him...and will definitely book with him again if we are back in Scotland for a more extended visit of the Country.  The personal connection we felt at the end of the tour was amazing.

  Family Cameron Clan Tour Our family thoroughly enjoyed a  4 day Cameron Clan tour with Scott through the Scottish Highlands, that included a day  on the Isle of Skye. Scott is very knowledgeable, well organized, flexible,  a great storyteller and fun to be with. Our tour with Scott was definitely the highlight of our 10 day trip to Scotland and given the opportunity we would book a tour with Scott again.

 Verified Wonderful Outlander inspired day tour with Scott Guthrie ! I booked an Outlander day tour departing from Edinburgh for July 2025 and from day one my communication with Inverness Day Tours and Scott Guthrie was excellent.Scott knew it was a big birthday for my husband and greeted him with a gift upon our departure from our hotel. He was punctual, friendly, organized, passionate and kind all throughout our day together.We visited 4 different sites that were filming locations for Outlander and Scott paired this with historical information, contemporary stories and a binder full of photos to remind us of their place in Outlander. My husband has not seen the show and Scott made sure he was engaged with content the entire time.We enjoyed our day and would not hesitate to recommend Scott or Inverness Day Tours to others.

  Perfect shore excursion with Scott! Cows, Outlander, weapons, and laughs! We had another amazing tour with Scott, this time as a cruise excursion out of Greenock. We previously enjoyed the two day Outlander tour, and this time enjoyed a custom shore excursion out of Greenock. Our group was a mix of adults, teens, and kids and Scott did an amazing job of keeping us all entertained and engaged. Scott has a gift for storytelling, and there was never a dull moment on our full day tour. We never felt rushed, though he did a fabulous job of using every minute of time available to see as much as possible while returning us to the ship in plenty of time. Scott’s car is a Hyundai i800. It carries up to seven passengers, It is a roomy car which is fully air conditioned.
