Erchless Castle on our Clan Chisholm Tour from Inverness stands on the far side of some tall, branchless trunks of pine trees. They do not completely occlude the castle, however, which is a white four-storey highland tower house dating from around 1600. In the background are hills, and a bit of white sky.Across a still lake under a perfect blue sky we see a low rise covered by native large Caledonian Pine Trees. They are large canopy, as opposed to a pointed pine. Behind the trees to left are more pines at lake level, while behind to the right is the high hill rising from the far shore of the lake, also covered in pine forest. The whole scene is perfectly reflected in the lake.
